Lisa’s Visit

May 25th, 2010

This past weekend, Lisa May came up from Florida to practice ride her horse, Heir To The Moon. Friday night she went with Steve and I to meet the vet to breed Norma.(Steve was a frequent visitor of the airport last week!)  She didn’t know we were going to make her work while she was here! Saturday she had a good ride, and then Steve and Lisa went to see our colt by The Sky King. Sunday morning, Lisa went with me to the gym for a personal kettlebell training session. She did really well, especially for her 1st time.(I think she maybe wanted to kill me the next day though!) She then had another good ride on her horse. Thank goodness she is a Lost watcher since it was the 4 1/2 hour series finale!!   I think that early morning Monday flight came too soon!

Heartland Classic

May 10th, 2010

All of our horses made good shows at the Heartland Classic show in Springfield, OH this past weekend. HS She Be Bad won the open park qualifier and championship with Steve  riding. Callaway’s Jess Luvon and Tracy Engel were 3rd in the adult show pleasure and reserve grand champions. Both HS She’s Be Bad and Callaway’s Jess Luvon are owned by Jackie Hawkes. Such Spirit and Steve were 2nd in the open park pleasure class for owner Kelley Norris. Steve and Travis Smith are 3 for 3 as CornHole partners! They are getting ready to take on Matt and Shane Shiflet at Roanoke!!!

See you at the ASHAO show in Ashland, OH and Delaware Riding Club next!

River Ridge

April 25th, 2010

This may have been the best River Ridge in several years. The numbers and quality were way up.  Miso Pretty and Mary Strang had a blue ribbon debut in the ladies fine harness class! All of our horses and riders/drivers made good shows, and are looking to Heartland Classic in 2 weeks.

On Thursday night after the show, we had a corn hole tournament. Steve and Travis Smith were the winning team.  Elizabeth Scoggins and I will be practicing for our next go and Shane Shiflet is promising he will defeat Steve at the Roanoke show…we will see about that!!

It’s another stud colt!

April 18th, 2010

On Saturday, Kalarama’s Beauty Girl had her baby,(by The Sky King). He is a full brother to our 2 year old, Joe Elliott. As of right now, he looks like he is going to be black. We went to see them today, and it’s hard to believe he’s only 1 day old!

Leaving for River Ridge tomorrow, and it sounds like they are going to have a REALLY good show. Steve is taking Heir To The Moon, She’s Extra Charming, Miso Pretty, Callaway’s Jess Luvon, Such Spirit, HS She Be Bad, and CH Broadway’s Mamma Mia!. Good Luck to everyone!!

Joe Elliott

April 16th, 2010

I took some video,(with my phone) Wednesday of our 2 year old long lining. He is also broke to ride, and Steve has hooked him once. We really like him a lot. He may not show until his 3 year old year, but we think he’s special! Ok, i’m gonna try to insert video-I hope it works!Joe Elliot Apr 14, 2010

It’s A Boy!!

April 14th, 2010

At around 11pm on Sunday, April 11, Norma had her baby. FINALLY!! She was 16 days overdue, and we were getting very anxious! Everything went perfectly, and both are doing well. She loves her baby. We haven’t named him yet, so for now, we have been calling him Stevie.(Ha, Ha). He has a little white on his nose, and a few white hairs on his forehead. He is by Master Class, and we plan on breeding her back to him.

No More Snow!!

March 26th, 2010

Last night we got a couple of inches of snow. Yuck!  Hopefully that was the last of it. River Ridge is just around the corner and we are very excited about our show string this year. We’re hoping for 1 of the best yet, as all are working well. Not sure when or where Steve will be debuting our 2 year old Joe Elliott, but he’s looking good! Norma is due today with her Master Class baby and is showing some signs she’s getting closer to having it.(I’m a nervous owner!)

Tampa Update

March 13th, 2010

We are really enjoying Florida. With the exception of 1 rainy day, the weather has been great. We have 1 more class tonite. Steve will be showing HS She Be Bad in the open park stake. She made a heck of a good show in the qualifer to reserve. Heir To The Moon won the amateur 5-gaited qualifier and championship with Lisa May. He made an awesome victory pass last nite Lisa was racking like the wind with 1 stirrup!! Nichole and She’s Exta Charming had 2 really good classes. She was reserve in country pleasure adult and 3rd in the championship. CH Broadway’s Mamma Mia! and I were 3rd in the ladies 3-gaited qualifier and 4th in ladies stake.
